 "Couple Problems but.." 2008-08-28
By Tracey K. Mills (cape coral, fl)
we had a warrenty on it so we got the problems fixed. Their was a strip of different colors going vertical down the side of the screen. We got that fixed but unfortunity the company that fixed it in our area scratched the boarder that surrounds the tv so we had to send it back and get that fixed too.. but everything was free so i have no real complaints! SO far I really love the tv and it is really easy to use! One thing we noticed though.. when your watching a dark movie sometimes when a bright object comes on the screen it blinks purple.. dont know if its just our tv or if its a thing the LG does.. we asked the mechanic and he said he cant figure out why it did it.

"What I expected for the price, good not great, 3.5 stars" 2008-06-15

I have this LG plasma connected to an an HD Dish VIP 622 satellite receiver via component video outputting at 720p. Out of the box colors are generally accurate and this set did well with motion while watching some highlights on Sports Center. Watching a concert on MHD I noticed this display has great black levels but during close ups the singers face was jagged and blotchy, I went down stairs and watched this same concert on my Panasonic Pro Series and the faces were crisp and clearly defined with out the jagged edges.

One thing that I have seen on other reviews (not on this sight) is the issue of image retention, where the scene changes but images from the old scene linger, this is especially pronounced when a black screen appears between scenes. Also if you are watching a station with a logo in the bottom corner for a while and change the channel you can still see the outline of that logo on the next channel. While it is distracting and at times annoying this isn't a dealer breaker for me and perhaps after a longer break-in time this will lessen.

I think this is a good set for the money and I will be happy with it in my master bedroom. I would not suggest this TV in a theater or primary viewing area, spend a little extra money and step up to a better TV if it is going to be your main viewing TV. I use an AV Receiver for the sound and have not used the speakers. The best TV speakers will never sound as good as a modest A/V Receiver / Speaker set up.

On a side note here is how the brands higher end vs. higher end displays rank in my personal experience.

1 Runco / Fujitsu (only available from custom installers, very expensive but hands down the best picture)

2. Pioneer Elite (pioneer has left the expensive video processing and scaling in their displays, the others have take a lot of these expensive parts out of their product to drive down prices)

3. Sony

4. Panasonic,

4. Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Sharp, Hitachi

5. Vizeo, Westinghouse, Olevia, Sanyo, Magnavox, Phillips

"Awesome Deal - Beautiful Plasma TV" 2008-05-02
By Gary D. Yowell (Houston, Texas)
Wow. What a great price for such a great plasma tv. Arranged this purchase for my dad. He is fully impressed. It is a beautiful set, very robust features, extremely lightweight and has a great picture. This puts our Olevia flat panel to shame. If they got more, get it while the gettin's good.

 "great TV, great seller" 2008-05-02

42 inch HD plasma TV for $799 with free shipping. How can you beat that? Sold thru Vann's in Montana. It was shipped by truck from Salt Lake City to NJ. I think they screwed up.
